Straight answers about AV.

A mid-size system includes speakers engineered for your room's actual acoustics, monitoring, wireless mics, and a volunteer-friendly console. Large rooms with line arrays, broadcast feeds, and lighting integration go up from there.

What moves the number most isn't the brand of the speakers — it's the room. Hard parallel walls, glass, and high ceilings fight every dollar you spend on gear, which is why a real proposal starts with an acoustic assessment, not a price list. And the cheapest system is the one you only buy once: most of the "fix our sound" calls we get are second attempts after a budget install that was never designed for the room.

Two things to demand from any quote: speaker coverage mapped to your actual seating (ask to see it), and training for your volunteers included — a system your team can't run confidently on Sunday morning is a bad system at any price. We include both.

The extra energy bounces off the back wall and smears everything into mud. The real fixes, in the order we try them: re-aim what you own (you'd be amazed how many speaker systems are pointed at the ceiling's feelings instead of the seats — sometimes the fix is an afternoon of adjustment, not an invoice); add delay speakers for deep rooms, small fills time-aligned so the back rows hear sound that arrives together; and treat the room — soft surfaces where reflections are killing intelligibility. Spoken word lives or dies on this more than music does.

The test you can run this Sunday: have someone read scripture from the platform, then walk the room. Wherever you start working to understand the words — not hear them, understand them — that's where your system stops. If that line lands inside your seating, that's exactly the kind of problem a room assessment is for.
